Beautiful beach town with slow chill vibe. Nice beaches with rocks, solid nightlife options.
Florianopolis is a cool beach town that most people spend 1 week when visiting. Sure, you could dip in and out within 3 days but feel like you’re missing the slowdown vibe as everyone else is settling for longer and building closer friendships.
Where to stay:
- Barra da Lagoa – I really liked the chill vibe of this area. I assume you have a solid place to stay here.
- Centro – sure you can stay in center and lots of things to do but I think the point of being in a beach town is to be on the beach.
Hostels:
- The Search House – only one I stayed and loved it. Great vibe for meeting people. Lots of space to hang, hammocks, workout area, yoga area, mini skate-ramp/halfpipe. And located right on the beach. It’s in Barra da Lagoa.
Neighborhoods & Walking areas:
- Your choices are walking the beach areas. Or going to the town center.
Activities to do:
- Beaches:
- Praia do Joaquinha – beautiful beach with sand dunes in the back. Can be far from where you’re staying and crowded, but it’s a recommended place.
- Barra da Lagoa & Piscina Naturais – nice beach and little hiking trail to the ocean pool by the rocks.
- Praia Mole – big picturesque rocks for sitting and taking photos. Big waves, good for sunsets and surfing more so than swimming.
- Praia da Galheta (nude beach) – not everyone is nude and doesn’t feel like family-friendly nude place.
- Arts & museums –
- Sunset views –
Restaurants & Cafes:
- Bar do Boni – nice restaurant on the water with live music. A little pricey but good drinks and service, fancy place.
Bars & Clubs:
- Shed, Aimme, Div – local girl told me these were the most popular.
- Bar do Espartano – plays Brazilian hip-hop, funk, and some other latin-ish stuff. I really liked the vibe but some girls may prefer a place with more dancey music. There’s a techno spot right next over.
- Ceu de Floripa – nice spot with lots of music and dancing.
