Timisoara – quick travel guide

A cute, colorful, small Romanian city…that’s beautiful and not too small. (But it is small).

Enjoy the nice vibes, eating and drinking outside. Walking around the beautiful old town. 2 days would be the right amount to enjoy it.

Where to stay:

  • City center – this is the right area to be. It’s a small town so you should be here if you’re a first-timer.

Hostels:

  • Hostel Cornel – nice vibes, nice staff. Super chill. Sometimes there’s even nobody at the hostel and you have the whole dorm to yourself. Me and a friend were in different rooms and we both got bit by bed bugs.

Neighborhoods & Walking areas:

  • Old town – that’s pretty much the place to be.
  • Water area – that’s the other popular area to be.
  • The mall – and also this.

Activities to do:

  • 3 squares – there are generally three squares to check out. Pretty spaces with nice buildings, shops, restaurants, and people walking about. All of them are nice and have different looks and interesting tourist things between them. Can easily pass through them all in a day.
  • Parks & water-points – go by the water and check out the parks over there.
  • Big mall – there’s a huge mall with tons of shops and restaurants. It’s built very modern and beautifully set by a park. A nice commercial area to be and got something for both kids and grown-ups.

Restaurants & Cafes:

  • Little Hanoi – amazing Vietnamese food! Super delicious and has dishes not commonly found at other places. Trust me on this one.
  • Tons of great restaurants. Just look everywhere.

Bars & Clubs:

  • I’d recommend looking around old town and also by the water.

Miscellaneous tips:

Nearby towns:

  • Cluj-Napoca** (4.5hr drive, 6hr bus) – nice bigger city. I recommend GEA TOURS to take a shuttle.
  • Belgrade – nice city! I recommend GEA TOURS if you want to take a shuttle.
