A nice medium-size city. Feels small and walkable yet also big enough to have everything, and also several areas for you to explore.
description paragraph… highlights
Where to stay:
- Old town – makes the most sense for first timers. Is pretty and still cheap. Lots of people and “life” around here at all hours (and also not that noisy). Once you know Wroclaw better, then you can try the other areas depending on what vibe you like.
- Water areas – perfect for hangouts by the water, also lots of beautiful architecture and green spaces. Check out the area north of the old town first, then south of the old town.
Hostels:
- I didn’t stay in any but being by the old town makes the most sense for me.
Neighborhoods & Walking areas:
- Old town
- church
- water area
- old signs
Activities to do:
- Gnome hunting – the city has 100 gnomes throughout (mostly by old town, though). Kind of addictive to go around looking for them all and making a photo collection of all the ones you’ve found. You can also get an official map of all their names and location from the tourist office.
- ZOO Wroclaw – really nice zoo that my friend loved. She said it was the best zoo she’s ever seen. Can easily take a whole day or at least 4-5 hours to see. Check opening/closing hours to make sure you have enough time.
- Buildings & architecture –
- Parks, gardens, green spaces –
- Beaches, bridges, water-points –
- Arts & museums –
- Sunset views –
Restaurants & Cafes:
- Konspira – awesome traditional Polish food. Above average prices, but also large portions. Checkout the closet doors that lead to the “hidden” backroom.
