Reviews of the shows I watched on Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime, etc…
I try to list every series I watched, along with my personal notes.
Top ranked for me:
- The Queens Gambit – great show, easy watch, starts quickly.
- Heeramandi – great show, mesmerizingly beautiful production escalates very quickly.
- Arcane – looks like children’s superhero anime cartoon in the first episode or so. Things get going around 3rd episode.
- Squid Games – easy watch, pulls you in quickly.
- Casa de Papel (Money Heist) – great show and fun to watch even if some parts seem unrealistic in their attempts at being realistic. Group of thieves successfully break into a bank and now have to figure out how to get out (while it’s completely surrounded by police and military).
- Lupin – super easy to watch, French series about a street thief stealing from high-society to help solve an old crime against his family. High octane thriller from start to finish.
- Monarca – awesome Mexican drama. Honestly, I think non-English language shows always tend to do better and are somehow more original. 1st season is great, 2nd season still very watchable but of course not as good.
- Juvenile Judge
Ok:
- Bridgerton – typical multi-overlapping-plot show that takes time to ravel before unraveling. Unless you’re super interested from the beginning, you get bored waiting for the show to stabilize itself as you find yourself uninvolved and not personally caring about they characters they want you to care about.
- Ozark – interesting stressed drama where main character starts off with a huge debt to cartel boss and has to figure out how to pay it back.
- Black Mirror – easy watch since each show is an independent series, unrelated to each other.
Terrible:
- Selena: The Series – absolutely slow, cringey preaching by the father, and terribly boring all around. I didn’t know it was bad until I found myself checking my phone often during the 2nd and 3rd episode. Went online to read reviews and everyone felt the same (that it sucked). What a massive letdown considering how awesome the movie was.
